M Niaz Asadullah

I am a Professor of Development Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Administration, University of Malaya, Malaysia. I received my Doctorate degree in Economics from Oxford University, UK, in 2005. Previously I have taught at Reading, Oxford and Dhaka Universities and have held position positions at Manchester and BRAC Universities. Current affiliations include: Fellow of the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) review panel, Research Fellow of Institute of the Study for Labor (IZA), Bonn, and Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), UK. My research relates to poverty, labor market, human capital and gender issues in South and East Asia. My work has been supported by national (e.g. HIR scheme of University of Malaya) as well as international grants (e.g. the Australian Development Research Award scheme, Leverhulme Trust, International Growth Centre (IGC), South Asian Network of Economic Research Institutes (SANEI) and the World Bank). Publication record includes articles in Australian Economic Review, Applied Economics, Bulletin of Economic Research, Cambridge Journal of Economics, China Economic Review, Comparative Education Review, Economics of Education Review, Economic and Political Weekly, International Journal of Educational Development, Journal of Development Studies, Journal of Economic Psychology, Oxford Development Studies, Singapore Economic Review and World Development.
